Small Parts Inspection & Assembly Work Cell

Genesis was hired to create an assembly station that would assemble and simultaneously inspect a small plastic gearbox. The final machine uses a series of vision cameras to determine part orientation and location, which are then picked by a robot and placed on a stand for assembly. The housing is placed first, then gears are inserted and rotated into place – this breaks off sprues that may be left over from molding operations. The forces required are monitored during assembly, resulting in an ability to identify and reject bad parts before final assembly into the application. This machine is also capable of running unattended as long as it's infeed and outfeed are managed.
